Friday Five

1. SHH is amazing. Besides being super hot, he's also super sweet. (Sappy, I know, sorry.) But I had to say something. I'm sitting in a completely clean kitchen, with a clean family room, and the boys' room is clean, and... yeah, EVERYTHING is clean! That is remarkable because I've been pretty sick recently, and the house had descended into complete disarray. (Two young boys + one sick mommy = pandelerium.) He surprised me last night and cleaned ALL of it. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. A heaven where I still felt like throwing up, but at least I wouldn't have to trip over 8 zillion toys and piles of crap to get to the bathroom. Man, I love that man. Okay, sap over.

2. Seeing your friend's book come out is really amazing. To have read a manuscript on a computer, seeing it evolve and then watching her get an agent, a deal, seeing the ARCs come out--all of that was amazing. But nothing compares to walking into the bookstore, and seeing that beautiful, shiny book on a shelf. (Or actually, in a special display case.) I am so excited for Ally, and can't wait for her launch party tomorrow!

3. I need to stop buying books. Wait! Before you try to jump through the computer and attack me, let me explain. I just need to stop for right now. Because I keep buying myself all the ones on my Christmas List. If I keep getting them, what will I have Santa get me?

4. There's only a couple of weeks left (starting on Monday) until SonA is on break from school for 2 WEEKS. I'm not really sure how I feel about that. Any ideas on what I can do to entertain him?

5. You've just got to love Utah weather. Last week, they practically shut the state down because the "blizzard of the decade" was headed for us. It was going to be The Day After Tomorrow x10. And then it wasn't. It was just a normal snow storm with some really cold temps attached. Then, the beginning of this week, we actually have a blizzard that lasts for almost TWO DAYS, dumping almost two feet of snow (at least where I live), and nothing happens. School goes on like normal, no road closures, nothing. Welcome to Utah. You know what they, if you don't like the weather, just wait until tomorrow. Or a couple of hours. Now it's so warm, half the snow has melted away. ("Warm" relatively speaking right now, means above freezing.)

So what are your thoughts today?

Hi Sara! Love your five. Can you send your husband to my house? My house needs cleaned, too. See you tomorrow at Ally's launch party!

My house is for sale, so my house has never been cleaner! I don't know how I let it slide for ten years before this! :)
We're expecting a snow storm tonight. My kids are THRILLED! I'm not thrilled about driving in it tomorrow for my daughter's state cheer competition. Though that's what hubby's are for: driving in the snow!
And lastly, I love the holidays because it gives me an excuse to buy books to give to people. And yes, I even bought one for myself.

What an awesome hubby! Great surprise! I hope you feel better soon. It's no fun to be sick for a few weeks.
We had the storm of the century here in Los Angeles just last week. It dumped for two hours and stopped entirely. The media just loves to scare people. Maybe people just love being scared a little too? I love when they are so wrong, but they've cried chicken little so many times now that no one will believe them when the real serious storm is headed in.
Have a GREAT weekend! And feel better!

Yeay awesome hubby!
Books for Christmas are my favorite. I have that same problem, buying them before I can get them as gifts! Oh well.

Happy weekend!

Isn't it the best when husbands clean? It makes my day. :) Lucky girl - hope you're feeling better. Thanks for your awesome blog. You have no idea how inspiring you are. :)

Ha ha ha re: the Utah weather. The "storm of the century" last week really irked me. Maybe that's the reason for my bad mood...

Can't wait to see you tomorrow!

Sorry to hear you are sick! Throwing up is the worst. I'm glad your husband is taking good care of you. Maybe that's the one good thing about being sick-seeing how loved you are!

Aw, what a sweet boy you have. That's very nice. That is all my husband would have to give me for Christmas. A clean house. That and books. Duh.

For the kids over holiday - arrange playdays with friends - ahead of time. Like set up something with another mom or two where you all take a day having them over to your house. You get two days free that way. Or one. Or four-depending on how many you involve. But make sure the kidlets do their jobs first. Mine have to do them before noon if they want to do anything (I have older kids, though). Also, drive them through either the Thanksgiving Point lights or the County Fair ground lights in Spanish Fork. Those are all cool. And rent lots of Christmas movies. And see if Grandma needs them to visit for awhile. And Gardner Village has a great Christmas display. That would be a fabu place to take the kids, and you. :)

Just some thoughts. Love your Friday posts. :)

Actually, I think those are just the Spanish Fork Fair Grounds, not county. Either way, it's cool. You should be able to google it--if they're still doing it.

And, Midway does a Christmas Swiss Days during the holidays, and they do a great job. You might google that too and take the kids up. Plus there is a ginormous creche display up there - or in Heber. Again, google. There's lots to do. :) Have fun.

We say the same thing about Northern Ontario. We got a snow dump of over 12 inches in a couple of hours - starting around 4 or 5 am. The day went on as normal as well. Gotta love it :)

Ha ha! I was there for the non-existent blizzard. In Utah, when they say blizzard - they don't mean Las Vegas blizzard (one inch and the city shuts down) - they mean ACTUAL blizzard, but, alas, just a little snow storm. On the way back to Vegas though, THAT was a blizzard!

LOL! And today it's raining. How crazy is that. I'm so glad you are feeling better Sara! It was so fun to see you last weekend. =)
