Friday Five

Phwew, we made it through another week! Here's what's on my mind this week...

1. Trying to "entertain" a kid--aka trying to force him to rest--who has a positive strep test but doesn't feel sick at all (and is really upset he has to stay home from school, because he thinks he's fine) is not very fun. But we survived, and now he's not contagious and he's back at school. Hurray.

2. A good book is a great way to distract yourself from stress. I love getting sucked into a good book.

3. It's hard to write when you are exhausted both physically and mentally, and have a massive headache, and still feel nauseated (because apparently this nausea is never going away with this pregnancy). But those are the times you have to just force yourself to do it. Right?

4. SonB just turned 2 a couple of weeks ago. He's really taking that whole "terrible two's" thing to heart. He's still adorable, and insanely smart and cute, but boy can he be a handful. In related news, I am so in love with the power of Magic Erasers right now that if it weren't a sponge, SHH might be jealous. As it is, he's probably just as in love with it, because now he doesn't have to repaint the hallway walls. Who knew mascara could be so stubborn to get off?

5. Why is it that whenever I clean a part of my house, it never looks clean for longer than maybe an hour or two at the most? Unless it's the middle of the night and everyone is asleep--in which case, it lasts until morning at least. Do you ever feel like, "what's the point?" And the bigger question is, when am I going to be a millionaire so I can hire a maid and write instead of clean? Huh? HUH?! Okay, just kidding about that last part. ;)

What's on your mind this week?

I totally feel your pain with the cleaning up.

You still have morning sickness? I'm so so sorry Sara. That is always the hardest thing for me. I hope it gets better soon!

I am so with you on the maid. Totally need one of those.

And as for the nausea, have you tried ginger or starlight mints? both worked wonders for me.

I am sorry about your putridness. That's the total pits. I also am totally beyond keeping my house clean. It never is and I have teenagers. Fun to hear your five today!

I just have to say that I think SonB is about the coolest name for a kid ever! Love it.

Oh man, story of my life!! It seems like I clean just so that it can get messy again. Makes me want to throw in the towel. I likely would, too, if I could stand the smell of stench.

So sorry you're still feeling icky. I really hope it passes soon. The good news is the longest it can last is nine months! Err, I know. Not very comforting. :( Would send you a maid if I could. Until then, wishing you a bucket-full of Magic Erasers.

Also, why do you have mascara on your walls??

I hate to break it to you about your fantasy with a clean house...unless of course you make your million.

My tip: I didn't allow any toys (or TV for that matter during those early years) in the living room. Anywhere else in the house, fine, but not the living room. Just having one clean (quiet) room in the house kept me sane in those years.

Good luck with your sick kiddo, and your pregnant self! And I know EXACTLY how you feel about a clean house. I cleaned mine this morning, and now it's a disaster. It makes me too depressed to try it again tomorrow.

My goal in life is to someday be able to afford a maid. Just kidding. Sort of. Take it easy!

My stance is when you have kids, especially young ones, the best you can ever hope for is the illusion of clean! :)
