Dark Breaks The Dawn is a fantasy re-imagining of Swan Lake with some new twists. I've always loved Swan Lake, it's my favorite ballet and that music. Wow. Also, swans have always been my favorite birds. (I guess I have that in common with Evelayn, the main character in the book.) So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I saw my cover for the first time -- I actually got emotional, I loved it so much. And that image, along with the story's roots in Swan Lake, and Evelayn's love for swans inspired the items in the giveaway. Are you ready??

I'm dying to share this book with you, but alas, we must endure the wait until Jan. 5, 2016 together. (See what I did there? hee hee...I'm so clever. Or punny. Either way.) DEFY in Paperback!

Today DEFY is officially released in paperback - just in time for holiday shopping!

If you'd like a signed copy, I will be at The King's English from 12-2 this Saturday, November 29 for Small Business Saturday, helping them sell books! (I'm so excited to help get some of my favorite books into reader's hands!)

I am also doing another group signing at the Sandy B&N on Saturday December 13 from 1-3 along with lots of other awesome authors!

Pre-order Madness (aka my way of saying THANK YOU!)

It's hard to believe that yesterday was near 70 and beautiful. Today, I'm sitting at my "desk" (aka, my dining table...if you don't believe me, go HERE) staring out at a blizzard. Oh, Utah. I guess we had a nice October, so I can't complain too much. It is November after all, so it's time for winter to come.

Whether you are excited for snow or not, there is one reason you can be really excited it's November--that means it's only 2 months until DEFY comes out!! Can you believe it? In just over 2 months, my little baby book will be out in the world!

I know that some of you have already pre-ordered DEFY--which just blows me away with gratitude!! That means SO so much to an author, especially a debut author. I'm also guessing that there might be a few more of you out there who are on the fence, trying to decide if you want to pre-order or not. I know that's a big decision to make--to buy something you haven't read, especially when it's the first book in a series.

So I've decided to do something as a way of saying "THANK YOU" to those who already have pre-ordered--and to those who hadn't decided yet, maybe it will be the extra boost you are hoping for to make your decision.

Return of the Friday Four or Five

So, it's been a while since I've done this, but it used to be a regular feature on my blog. I figured I'd try to be better at doing it again. Here's what's on my mind today...

1. My third half marathon is tomorrow morning and I am really nervous. You'd think I'd be getting progressively less nervous for each race, rather than having it get worse. Well, you'd be wrong. I could barely sleep last night (which doesn't bode well for tonight, when I know my alarm is going to be going off at 3:30 am). Then Baby Girl decided to wake up at 6:30am. I'm tired, my stomach is all icky with nerves, and the race isn't even until tomorrow. Heh.

Me and my cute sister Lauren who I'm running the race with. She's a Speedy McSpeedster, so that might be a big part of why I'm so nervous... 

2. I went to Kiersten White's signing for ENDLESSLY at The King's English last night after our packet pick up. I can't believe her trilogy is done! So happy for her and excited to find out how Evie's story ends!

3. I finally got a chance to read THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS by Rae Carson. I'd heard so many good things about this book and it definitely lived up to the hype. I can't wait for the sequel to come out in September!

4. Thank you all for your amazing response to my last post. Your comments, tweets, rt's, FB messages, and emails meant more to me than I can express. It's so wonderful to know that we're not alone and that so many of us share the same emotions and struggles--and hopefully triumphs someday, too. So, again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

5. Did I mention I'm nervous for tomorrow? And that I'm already exhausted? Heh, heh. Not good. Wish me luck.... pretty sure I'm going to need it.

THE SAVAGE GRACE launch party!

Last night was the release party for Bree Despain's THE SAVAGE GRACE. Bree is such a wonderful person, and I am so excited for her for the release of the final book in THE DARK DIVINE trilogy!

I've already heard great things about this book, and I can't wait to find out how it all ends! She gave a great talk about how hard it was to write the third book, to let go of these characters. I'm sure Stacey will detail all of that in her blog post over on My Pile of Books. I can't image how hard it would be--but hopefully I'll get the chance to find out someday.

Afterwards, Stacey and I grabbed some Red Mango. It was a fun night! TSG was my belated birthday gift to myself (my birthday was on Monday). Now excuse me while I go dive in.... :-)

I was lucky enough to attend the book launch/signing for Elana Johnson's POSSESSION last week at The King's English in Salt Lake City. Since I ended up in the ER the next day, and on bedrest since then (see last post), the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

I can't believe the crowd that was there--it was astounding! But then again, I shouldn't be surprised, since she is so amazing, and so well loved. It was a triumphant wonderful night for her, and I couldn't be happier for my friend!

Book Signing for PARANORMALCY!

After this post, you will all want to move to Utah. I'm just warning you now. Why? Because there is such a huge support system of local YA authors in Utah, and we are all made of awesome. Right?

On Saturday, uber-cute Kiersten White came into to town to do a signing at The King's English for her recently released (and already New York Times BESTSELLER!!!!) PARANORMALCY. This book is awesome - if you haven't read it yet, you must. Immediately. Go, now. I'll wait.

Okay, anyway...

Here's a whole bunch of the local authors and aspiring authors who came out to support Kiersten. (There were even more not pictured!) Afterwards, my friend Stacey (aka Aubrey who is the founder of MyPileOfBooks - awesome book blog I've raved about previously) went for some shopping and frozen yogurt. Yum yum!
